I asked Metatron and said to him: What is thy name? He answered me: I have seventy names, corresponding to the seventy tongues of the world, and all of them are based upon the name of the King of kings of kings; however, my King calls me Youth.

Rabbi Ishmael said: I said to Metatron: Why art thou called by the name of thy Creator with seventy names? Thou art greater than all the princes, higher than all the angels, more beloved than all the servants, more honoured than all the hosts and elevated above all in sovereignty, greatness and glory; why do they call thee Youth in the high heavens?

He answered: Because I am Enoch, the son of Jared. For when the generation of the Flood sinned and were turned to evil deeds, and said to God: Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways,

Then the Holy One, blessed be He, removed me from their midst to be a witness against them to the heavenly beings, to be a witness against them before the world to come.
5
And the Holy One, blessed be He, appointed me in the height as a prince and a ruler among the ministering angels.
