For our lifetime is long only by thy mercy; for we are a wind that passeth, and our soul is but a breath.

O hear me that am flesh, and pay attention to me that am but ashes. Let me consider my thought and understand, and look into the depth of thy mysteries.

For we are born of thee, and we depart not of our own will. The spirit which thou hast created does not go to destruction, but returns to Him who gave it.
