When Adam and Eve were driven out of paradise, they went forth and Adam knew his wife. And she conceived and bore Cain and Abel.

And after they were driven out, they both walked upon the earth, and Adam said to Eve: Let us seek for ourselves something to eat and live, lest we die.

And they walked about and searched, and found nothing to eat like they had in the garden. And Eve said to Adam: My lord, I am hungry. Go, seek something for us to eat.

And they walked seven days, and found no food such as they had in the garden; they found only animal food.
5
And Adam said to Eve: This food is for beasts and cattle, but for us it was food from the garden. Let us repent before the Lord God who made us. Perhaps He will have pity and give us something to live on.
