He said to me: A man had a field and many servants, and on a portion of the field he planted a vineyard. And choosing a certain servant who was faithful, honourable and valued, he called him and said to him:
2
Take this vineyard which I have planted, and fence it till I come, but do nothing else to the vineyard. Keep my commandment and thou shalt be free.
3
And the master departed to his journey. Now when the master was departed, the servant took and fenced the vineyard. And when he finished fencing, he saw that the vineyard was full of weeds.
4
So he reasoned: I have finished this commandment of the Lord. I will now dig this vineyard, and it shall be more beautiful when it is digged; and when there are no weeds, it will yield more fruit. He took and digged the vineyard and plucked up all the roots of the weeds. And the vineyard became very beautiful and prospered.
