Testament of Moses 11
1
And Joshua fell on his face, and his countenance was troubled, and he wept and fell at the knees of Moses.
2
And Moses said unto him: Why dost thou comfort thyself overmuch, Joshua? Restrain thy tears and compose thy spirit.
3
Be of good courage. Hear my word. All the nations which are in the world, He created them. And He foresaw them as well as us from the beginning of the creation of the world.
4
And me also hath He designed and devised, and He prepared me from the beginning of the world to be the mediator of His covenant.
5
Now therefore I say unto thee, Joshua: it is not for any virtue or strength of mine, but from His compassion and His everlasting patience.
6
For I declare unto thee, Joshua, that it is not on account of the godliness of this people that thou shalt root out the nations.
7
The lights of heaven, the foundations of the earth, all of these God created and has not taken them back from their purpose at any time.
8
And now shall I not for this purpose be forever remembered? And shall I not be raised up again unto honor?
